Using reference management software such as Mendeley helps to manage the citations and document them consistently without having to worry about the different formatting requirements for the citation style being used. The software allows for collection of citation and references for all the literature that was used to enable them to be inserted into the document and formatted as per the citation style preferred.

There are several ways you can add references and files to your Mendeley Library:
Mendeley Cite allows for quick and easy citation of materials that have been added into the Menedeley library and to generate a full reference list of all the materials that were referred to.
Mendeley does not support the option for citing in the form author (year) in documents, it generates citations in (author, year) format. In order to cite in author (year) format, the software allows for manual editing of the citation generated in order to achieve the formating.
