How to Avoid Desk Rejection

Desk rejection is when a submitted manuscript gets turned down or rejected by the journal editor (s) before being sent out for peer review.

Some of the reasons why papers are desk rejected include;

  1. The manuscript doesn’t fall within the aims and scope of the journal.
  2. The manuscript fails the technical screening.
  3. The research topic is of little significance.
  4. The standard of writing is too low.

How to avoid desk rejection

  1. Avoid plagiarism.
  2. Appropriate scope - understand the aims and scope of the journal.
  3. Follow the appropriate publication format.
  4. Excellent manuscript quality.
  5. Excellent methodology.
  6. Use proper grammar or English.
